Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff receive notice from Jaipur Consumer Court over misleading pan masala ad March 09, 2025 at 01:53PM

A consumer disputes redressal commission in Jaipur has issued notices to Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff regarding an allegedly misleading advertisement for a pan masala brand. The notice was also served to Vimal Kumar Agarwal, chairman of JB Industries, the company behind Vimal Pan Masala.

The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Jaipur II, has directed all involved parties to appear for a hearing scheduled for March 19 at 10 AM. The commission, led by chairman Gyarsilal Meena and member Hemlata Agarwal, stated in its notice that failure to appear would result in an ex parte decision. The accused have been instructed to submit their responses within 30 days of receiving the notice.

The notice stems from a complaint filed by Jaipur-based advocate Yogendra Singh Badiyal. He alleges that the advertisement falsely promotes the product by claiming "daane daane mein hai kesar ka dum" (every grain contains the power of saffron), which he believes misleads the public into thinking the pan masala is beneficial. Apart from that he has also raised concerns about how the product doesn’t even contain a grain of saffron, further pointing out how this can also cause serious health ailments and something as dangerous as ‘cancer’.

According to Mr. Badiyal, this deceptive marketing is driving massive profits for the company while encouraging consumers to use a product that could lead to severe health issues, including cancer. The advocate has demanded legal action against the manufacturer and the actors endorsing the brand, calling for a ban on both the product and its advertisement. He also urged authorities to impose a hefty fine on the accused for allegedly misleading and endangering public health.

As of now, there has been no official response from the actors or JB Industries regarding the allegations.
